Winter is officially upon us in the midwest, and with all of the snow, ice and cold temperatures, it might be time to consider packing a bag and hitting the beach until spring! Regardless of your location in the U.S., it is easy to be at the airport and then on a beach within 4-5 hours. The Caribbean is the perfect place to escape the cold winter climate and for a few days of fun in the sun.
Grand Cayman
The Grand Cayman Islands are home to some of the best beaches in the world. The island is sophisticated and well-developed and offers visitors the perfect beach escape. Seven Mile Beach is the place to drop an umbrella in the sand and work on your tan. With luxurious hotels, a new Margaritaville, and an amazing culinary scene, the Grand Cayman’s should be at the top of your list for a winter getaway.
Antigua
History buffs will love Nelson’s Dockyard, Antigua. This preserved 18th-century dockyard was a stomping ground for Admiral Horatio Lord Nelson and has been converted into the perfect getaway. The historic marina features boutique hotels and Pigeon Point Beach. Nelson’s Dockyard allows visitors to travel back in time while soaking up some time in the sun.
Nassau
The capital of the Bahamas is becoming a culturally vibrant and walkable destination. With great restaurants and boutique hotels, Nassau is the perfect getaway if you are limited on time. The town also features an affluent art scene with galleries and museums enjoyable for the entire family. The clean beaches and crystal clear water make for a great spot to recharge before heading back home.
Barbados

Jamaica
